The best time to visit Kedarnath is between September to October and May to June when the snow has melted and there is no rain. Kedarnath remains closed for 6 months every year from November to March due to snowfall in the region.
How to reach Kedarnath
By Flight: The nearest airport to Kedarnath is the Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, from where you can take a taxi to Gaurikund. Gaurikund is the last pass leading to Kedarnath.
By Train: The nearest railway station to Kedarnath is Rishikesh which is 216 km away from Kedarnath. It is well connected by trains to and from major destinations in India.
By Road: Gaurikund is well connected by cabs and buses to all the nearby cities like Rishikesh, Dehradun, Haridwar, Chamoli, Uttarkashi etc. You can find buses to Rishikesh from ISBT Kashmere Gate in Delhi. Taxis and buses can also be hired from major places in Uttarakhand to reach at Kedarnath.

After breakfast, drive to Haridwar via Rishikesh. It is said that when Raibhya Rishi did hard penances, God appeared by the name of "Hrishikesh," and this area henceforth came to be known as Rishikesh.
